Getting started

This online training is developed for professionals aiming to support their organizations in establishing a basic sustainability management and reporting system, in line with the EU Voluntary Standard for sustainability reporting.

Learning objectives

  1. Describe the importance of sustainability for small and medium-sized organizations as a driver of competitiveness, cost efficiency, and reputation.
  2. Explain what sustainability means and how the Voluntary Standard can serve as a framework for the implementation of a sustainability strategy.
  3. Understand the types of disclosures that effectively demonstrate sustainability performance, and learn how to initiate reporting process.

Context

The EU Voluntary Standard is the first internationally recognized, freely accessible sustainability reporting standard. It is primarily intended for companies with fewer than 1,000 employees. While it forms part of the EU regulatory framework, companies based outside the EU may also be affected when they engage with EU-based organizations, for example as suppliers, customers, investees, or grant recipients.
