NUFG – Switzerland's Federal Act on Sustainable Corporate Governance

What led to the change?

The Swiss Federal Council initiated the change in response to growing international demands for more transparency and uniformity in corporate sustainability reporting. This decision was influenced by the need to align Swiss regulations with the evolving European and international standards.

What will change?

Based on the proposal, large companies in Switzerland will be required to systematically identify, assess, and address human-rights and environmental risks across their operations and supply chains, in line with the  international developments, in particular the EU's supply-chain directive CSDDD and its reporting directive CSRD/ESRS.

What are next steps?

NUFG is not yet in force. It has recently undergone a public consultation which closed on July 9, 2026. The responses are now evaluated by The Federal Council.

How is Intently involved?

Intently has participated in the public consultation in 2024 and shared observations and recommendations regarding the following aspects: (1) impact on companies below the reporting threshold, (2) precision regarding applicable reporting standards, (3) inclusion of opportunities in the scope of legislative text, (4) recommendations for the transition phase.
